There are mold spores everywhere, but too much can be toxic.
Every home has mold spores. But an elevated spore count could indicate a mold growth issue within the home, and be unhealty or even toxic to breathe. For an additional fee, we’ll sample the air using state-of-the-art equipment and have the samples analyzed by an accredited lab with a 2-3 business day turnaround. Our pricing includes three samples – two indoor and one outdoor (as required by the lab as a control sample).
Note: This testing is intended to identify elevated mold spore levels in the home. Hidden mold growth can sometimes go undisturbed, and therefore be undetectable with testing. Obvious, visible mold growth issues within a home generally don’t require testing to detect and can be identified during a visual inspection for remediation.
About Mold
What is mold?
Mold is a general term for countless types of tiny organic spores that exist naturally and reproduce. There are over 100,000 known species of mold. Not all types are harmful, but many are. Mold spores can reproduce very rapidly on surfaces in the right conditions and are released into the air when disturbed. Elevated levels of spores in the air can cause health effects ranging from allergic reactions to more severe respiratory problems. Some molds produce mycotoxins, which are potentially toxic substances that can cause health problems. Mold presence in the home is also indicative of an elevated moisture issue, which could be caused by leaks or poor insulation/ventilation.

Mold Testing
- Three air samples are collected with specialized equipment – two indoor and one outdoor control sample, and shipped overnight to an accredited lab for analysis. Additional samples and/or surface swab samples can be collected for an additional charge.
- Price shown is valid when combined with a home inspection.
- Lab reports are delivered via email, normally within two business days of sample collection.
